The Hottest Event Of The Season
It seems we've overlooked the hottest event of the season! So, we're dedicating this post to giving it the attention it deserves especially given the current state of affairs, both globally and here at home.
I received an email from my dear friend Naseem Haffar, a philanthropist and prominent Arab activist figure, urging his network to vote in the upcoming mayoral race. That message is what inspired me to write this email and I hope that more poeple will share it with their network.
Early voting starts today on Saturday, June 14 (election day is the 24th). As you may know already, Zohran Mamdani's campaign is surging leading Como for first time in Mayoral race. The survey, conducted by Public Policy Polling for Democrat Justin Brannan’s city comptroller campaign, found Mamdani beating Cuomo 35 percent to 31 percent — a difference that is narrowly within the 4.1 percent margin of error. That’s not much and everything is possible
Zohran is a smart, charismatic, and eloquent candidate, who has run a very smart and focused campaign based on housing affordability, free buses, childcare, and helping small businesses. He has raised $8 million, the maximum permitted. If elected mayor, he would succeed in shattering all kinds of taboos in this city (immigrant, young and unapologetically pro Palestinian human rights). Zohran is still the underdog. Cuomo is very well funded with $11 million in PAC money that includes funds from the real estate lobby, Bill Ackman and other wall street billionaires, and pro Israel groups. That is why it is imperative that we all vote starting this Saturday.
While you cannot contribute to the campaign directly, you can contribute to an independent PAC supporting him called New Yorkers for Lower Costs.
