South African guitarist Derek Gripper and the Iraqi-American oud virtuoso Rahim AlHaj offer a kind of musical family affair as the Arab oud is generally considered to be the ancestor of the modern guitar. AlHaj has taken the centuries-old tradition of Arab classical music and blended it with the sounds of contemporary Western music.

Sherin Guirguis

Sherin Guirguis (b. Luxor, Egypt) is an internationally exhibiting artist living in Los Angeles creating sculptures, paintings, drawings and public art exploring cultural identity and feminist histories. She has created site-specific commissions in Egypt at the Pyramid Plateau in Giza, METRO station in Los Angeles and for Desert X Coachella Valley and Al Ula.

DANCE CLASS
FJK Dance Class

Every Tuesday 7-8pm
New York Live Arts, Chelsea

Contemporary Middle Eastern flow and a movement meditation by Fadi J Khoury. This dance class is focused on the connection of the breath and the articulation of our joints.
